Langhe Favorita DOC

Favorita vines arrived in Piedmont along the old salt and oil roads that have linked the region with the Ligurian coast since ancient times. In Liguria the variety is also called Vermentino or Pigato, while in the Roero it used to be known affectionately as "Furmentin" (a local dialect term for buckwheat) on account of the golden yellow hue the ripe berries acquire that recalls the color of wheat during the harvest period.

Over recent years Favorita has earned itself a place of honor among local whites. Historic documents date its vinification separately from other varieties as far back as 1676; however, it has been discovered that in the 1800s it was popular as a table grape. Here in the Roero the sandy, sun-kissed hilltops have proved to provide ideal growing conditions for this varietal. The result is perfectly ripe grapes with a unique golden color that produce an appealing, versatile wine which we vinify with great attention to its typical style.
